AuziMAX - FAQ

The LED Status lights are visible on the top of the Monitor to provide you with information about device activity and status. The image below displays the indicator lights for normal operation.

  • This will depend on what type of AuziMAX you have. Please review this link to find out what version you have.
  • If you own an older monitor/receiver version, you will need to login here: ems.energymaximiser.com
  • If you own either a Wifi, or LAN and WiFi, or SD Card version, you will need to login here: ems.enopte.com
  • Alternatively, if you are not sure, you could try logging into both and see which online portal has you current data.

Enopte have developed three main types of AuziMAX’s.

  • The latest two versions of the AuziMAX have a LAN port on the front right as pictured below. These versions can connect to auto channel wifi networks. The latest AuziMAX versions also have internal SD Cards for offline logging up to 10 years.auzimax-wifisd
  • A slightly older version is the AuziMAX Wifi model and is pictured below. It requires a fixed channel wifi network to connect to. You can download it’s manual here – auzimax-wifi
  • The original and oldest AuziMAX version has a white WiFi receiver paired with a blue AuziMAX that has 433MHz labeled on the antennae. This is called our “Monitor/Receiver” version.
  • The iPhone, iPad and Android App’s will be back very soon!
  • Since we upgraded our online software portal, our development team has been hard at work to finalise all the features.
  • Once these are complete, the phone and tablet Apps will be upgraded and made available.
  • First check that your internet is working and that your AuziMAX has 3 green lights. If you have not already, try power cycling your internet and network equipment (like your internet modem).
  • To do this, turn it all off for 5 seconds, then back on. Also do this to your AuziMAX.
  • Customers access their data from the Energy Management System (EMS) Server at ems.enopte.com
  • When customer’s log into ems.enopte.com, they are connecting to the portal, not their Monitor.
  • Each minute the Monitor attempts to synchronise energy data to the EMS Server.
  • Due to memory constraints, some AuziMAX versions cannot indefinitely store minute data. Newer versions with SD Cards can store data for unto 10 years.
  • If the Monitor cannot connect to the EMS Server, energy data cannot be accessed.
  • While the AuziMAX is disconnected from the server, energy data is accumulated into hourly blocks (and minutes for SD card versions) and saved to internal memory. Once connectivity is restored to the AuziMAX, hourly data is resynchronised to the EMS Server.
  • There are three status lights that indicator your AuziMAX’s connection status.

The Session Activity Indicator

  • The Session Activity indicator (far right “tick” green LED) represents the AuziMAX’s session status with the EMS Server.
  • When the Session Activity indicator is on, the AuziMAX / Monitor has an active session with the EMS and is synchronising monitoring data.
  • As connectivity to the internet via the customer’s WLAN is required by the AuziMAX, the WAN and WiFi indicators are prerequisite for session activity.
  • Therefore, the Session Activity indicator will only be on when both the WAN and WiFi indicators are also on.

Reason #1

  • You have programmed the AuziMAX incorrectly. You must ensure that it’s Network Settings are correct.
  • If you have incorrectly (or forgotten) to program the S2W Connection Method (in the case of Wifi only models), or the Server Address (in the case of LAN capable and SD models) during installation, this will cause the AuziMAX to not connect to the server. Remember, the WAN indicator only represents the AuziMAX’s connectivity to the Internet.

Reason #2

  • You have accidently factory-reset the Monitor. This will cause the Monitor lose its S2W or server Connection Method, i.e. where to connect to on the Internet.

Fix

  • You will need to factory reset the AuziMAX and repeat the process.
  • In the case of WiFi only models (i.e. no LAN port or SD Card) the customer’s WLAN (usually the wireless network router or ADSL modem that broadcasts the wifi network) must be turned off before attempting to factory reset the AuziMAX.
  • After the factory reset procedure has finished, before programming, turn back on the WLAN / wireless network.

The WAN Indicator.

  • The Wide Area Network (WAN) indicator represents the AuziMAX’s connectivity to the Internet. For monitoring data to be synchronised to the EMS Server, the AuziMAX must be able to create a socket connection to the EMS Server. A socket connection allows one process to speak to another, very much like the telephone is used to allow one person to speak to another.
  • Connecting the Monitor to EMS is the customer’s networking infrastructure. The customer’s networking infrastructure must consist of a WiFi Access Point (AP), Router & Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Modem.
  • The WiFi AP links two or more device using wireless data link communication to the Local Area Netw
  • The Router determines where to send information received on the LAN.
  • The DSL Modem connects the Router to a telephone line which provides a digital subscriber line service for connectivity to the WAN (i.e. the Internet), commonly referred to as DSL “broadband”.
  • When the WAN indicator is on, the AuziMAX has established a socket connection to the EMS Server.
  1. Why isn’t the WAN indicator on?
  • If you are having connectivity problems, you can use the ping command to check the destination IP address you want to reach and record the results.
  • The ping command displays whether the destination responded and how long it took to receive a reply. If there is an error in the delivery to the destination, the ping command displays an error message.

Windows

  1. Access a computer on the customer’s LAN.
  2. Open Command Prompt.
  3. Type into Command Prompt: “ping -n 5 -l 500 -f log.enopte.com”
  4. Press Enter/Return.
  5. Take note of the percentage of Packet Loss, TTL and the Maximum Round Trip Time.
    • If the Packet Loss is > 20%, the Maximum Round Trip Time is >1500ms or Time to Live (TTL) is < 10, there is a networking issue unrelated to the Monitor and must be addressed before completing the installation.
    • Enopte does not take responsibility for unreliable WAN connectivity.
